Small town in the mountains. But also at/over capacity with tourist. I met another solo traveler(Scott- a really cool guy from The Philippines) on the train from Kandy(I'm going to do a separate post on that train trip) and we decided to get together the first day for a half day tour. We opted to go to 9 arches bridge since we couldn't see it the day before due to the heavy cloud coverage and rain. Then off to the secret waterfall, Ravana Falls and Mahamevnawa Monastery situated up in the mountains with breath taking view, rolling clouds and intermittent mists. And since there's really only the one street, we ended up grabbing a bear and shopping before going our separate ways.
Secret Waterfall and Ravana Waterfall.
I truly enjoyed Ella; it was much cooler, but like I said, only the one street and not much to do after seeing the sights in the area—unless you want to hike, then there is plenty to do. I do not regret going; I just think it's a town that only warrants a 2-day stay. Regardless, I will never forget this cute mountainside town. An absolutely beautiful area. Now it's time for the beach!
