Ghana-Cape Coast and Elmina.
Well I had mixed feelings about this. Part of me knew I needed to go, but I also didn't really want to. So I decided to make it into a road trip(you know how I like those!) and rented a car and drove myself down to the coast. Now I made that decision based on what the roads were like in the city, and it was only 80 Kilometers. As soon as you get outside the city, it's dirt roads that are in horrible conditions. That 80km took me 5 hours!!! I was so on edge by the time I got there! I didn't even eat dinner, I went straight to bed...which was fine as I was able to get up and get to the castles as soon as they opened. I wish I could say positive things about it, but what can you say? The things that people do to other people...just disgusting. I'll leave it there. So as I said, not the most pleasant tour, but it was educational. I will say between East and West Africa, this was the biggest one with a lot of the original buildings still intact. Next stop: Ivory Coast!
