Cali is in the valley-so a little flatter than the other cities in the mountains. It's also the second largest Afro population outside of Africa-right behind Brazil. I didn't realize that before I visited. It's located in Valle del Cauca department (like our states). And the largest city in SW Colombia. It's about 2 hours from the Pacific Ocean. It's also known as the birthplace of Salsa dance. The cuisine differs somewhat regionally, and Cali is known for it's Pacific cuisine. One of my tour guides suggested a couple restaurants and all the food I got was delicious! A little spicier than a lot of Colombian cuisine-which I loved! I'll show them below, but I also toured the city center and took a salsa tour. I'm not sure what the significance of the cats are, but there was a whole park full of only cat sculptures. I asked, but no one gave me a good answer. Anyway, enjoy the pics!

Bottom is Flavor Street- where every Friday night there's live music and dancing in the streets. Also food vendors and bars throughout the area. And as everyone knows, I love Street Art and Murals!

Below is the cat park...

Below is the historic city center. The Huge Horn display is a tribute to Salsa music. You step under each instrument and it's playing one instrument and then all put together including vocals in the final instrument. A really cool display.

The music from the final instrument.

And finally the Gold Museum. Look at the detail- and no modern machinery!

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed Cali- well Colombia overall. I see why so many people move or retire there! It's definitely made it on my short list. Hope you enjoyed the quick journey through Colombia-I know I sure did
