The next city I went to was Tamarindo. It's on the Pacific coast and a lot of expats from the states and Canada are there. One of the main attractions in Tamarindo is its breathtaking beaches. The most famous spot, Tamarindo Beach, stretches for over a mile and is renowned for its golden sands and surf-friendly waves. Visitors can soak up the sun, swim in the warm waters, or take surfing lessons. In 2022, over 70,000 people flocked to Tamarindo Beach each month, eager to enjoy its summer-like climate and beach activities.

For those seeking a quieter vibe, Playa Langosta, just a five-minute drive from Tamarindo Beach, offers a more tranquil experience. This serene setting is ideal for leisurely strolls or peaceful picnics while taking in the stunning ocean views.

The resort I stayed at had a private beach with hammocks, chairs, and umbrellas, plus massages right on the beach! I took advantage of all of it!

Typical beach town...

Food Scene in Tamarindo

I found this to be quite expensive. I think it's the most expensive town I've been in—and I've been traveling for 21 months! Actually, after being here for 2 weeks, everything is expensive. More than Japan, and everyone said Japan was expensive. Just know that if you travel here, gas, food (at restaurants and the grocery store), and lodging are more expensive than in the States. But about the food...

Local eateries, referred to as “sodas,” serve delicious and budget-friendly meals. For just around $5, you can enjoy a home-cooked plate of Gallo Pinto, accompanied by fresh avocado and local coffee. Be sure to dine at a beachfront restaurant to savor freshly caught fish, often served with the stunning backdrop of the ocean waves. Don’t overlook the area’s famous ceviche, a refreshing dish that highlights the ocean's flavors. I enjoyed my 4 day get-away here. I'm heading to the capital and then the Caribbean!
