Medellin is the second largest city in Colombia. However, I feel like it still has the feel of a small town. Probably because of all the small neighborhoods. Most people still think of the cartels when they hear the name, but I assure you, it's nothing like that. They have spent the past 30 years or so creating a culturally diverse, friendly-SAFE- city and they are very proud of that! I can't say how impressed I am with this city. From numerous parks, to a river running through the center of town, to all of the restaurants and night life, not to mention shopping. This city really does have something for everyone. And the people are SOOOO friendly.

These are from Comuna 13- where all the tragedy took place 30 years ago(Cartels). They have since taken the neighborhood back and transformed it with murals and street art. But whew! The hills!

It really is a HUGE area. But they have made a lot of progress. They get paid for painting the murals and the kids also dance and put on shows to earn money instead of other activities(You understand what I'm referring to). Check out a little bit of one of the shows I saw below.

Below are from City Center.

Medellin is the only city in the country with a Metro train and also cable cars for public transportation. Below are pictures from Provenza and El Poblado.

Truly a beautiful city. All these different neighborhoods- all with their own vibe. Parks throughout the city, some with exercise equipment, rivers, tons of restaurants and bars as well as museums and sporting events. Something for everyone! I really enjoyed Medellin.
