Arrival in Seam Reap and of course my first order of business is a massage and food tour on the first day. Then off to sunrise at Angkor Wat Temple. Next to the Floating Fishing Village where the water during the wet season is up to the top of the stilts. And finally to The Royal Theatre Dinner Show. I absolutely adored this city!
First set of pictures is the spa, then floating village. The 2 nicer buildings are the police station and medical clinic(in the middle of the collage).
We stopped on one of the islands where you can see the temple and shops as well as houses.
Then I took a canoe ride through the mangroves and finished with some food and watching the sunset. Great day!
Early the next day I arranged to go to Angor Wat Temple with a private tour guide and TukTuk. The temples were beautiful and such detail!
Then off to the other 2 temples in the complex.
Then to the dinner theatre where there was truly delicious food and wonderful dancers performing various traditional dances based on villages and backgrounds.
And last but not least, the food tour! We tried Mi Kola, Banh Hoy, Sa Yor(You see the Mi Kola poster and the 2 dishes right below that are the dishes listed above. We also had Lot Cha and Chives cake(Fried noodles and the 2 desserts next to it(Middle left). Next to the desserts is the curry- Num Banh Chok and Khmer Curry(TYhese are traditional Khmer noodles. And finally a table of desserts- I chose not to try those. See below for the rest of the food/snacks.
Yep, that's a giant cockroach! No I didn't try it. Just above it to the right are the rest of the bugs that are fried, seasoned and eaten as snacks. Grasshoppers, cockroaches, baby frogs, crickets etc...this was probably the most fun group of people I've been on a food tour with. In fact the one lady is also from CA-Fresno! Small world.
