After years of grinding like a coffee bean in a blender, I finally reached my breaking point. And then, just when I thought I could take a break, COVID swooped in like a superhero in a pandemic-themed cape, forcing me to re-evaluate my life choices. After months of soul-searching (and a few too many late-night glasses of wine), I realized I needed a change. So, I made the bold decision to start my research and prepare to leave—because who doesn’t want to run away from responsibilities like a kid dodging chores?
That was honestly the best decision I could have made for my sanity and my waistline (goodbye, Chardonnay!). As I mentioned, I’ve always had a burning desire to travel, and during that time, I had already completed several epic road trips—driving across the country like a modern-day Lewis and Clark, but with more snacks and fewer bears. I even golfed across the country once—truly a great time! I’ve visited 40 of the 48 contiguous states, which means I’m practically a state-hopping ninja. So, it was high time to kick my international exploration into high gear.
So, keep checking back for new posts as I document my journey—and how I managed to get banned from a country in my first year of full-time travel! Spoiler alert: it may or may not involve an unfortunate misunderstanding of local laws...more on that later.
